Story of Lt. General Abul Hossain (Retd)

Lieutenant General Abul Hossain, ndc, psc, joined Bangladesh Military Academy on 01 Feb 1980 and was commissioned on 27 Dec 1981 in the Corps of Engineers of Bangladesh Army. He obtained B.Sc. Civil. Engineering degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET).

He obtained Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) from. AIUB and Masters in Defense Studies (MDS) from National University, Bangladesh. He is qualified in M Phil Part-I from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and presently pursuing PhD on Climate Change. He has undergone many military courses both at home and in abroad; notable ones are Junior Officer, Combat Engineering course in China, Battalion Commander Command Course in Turkey, International Border Security & Management Briefing Program Course in UK and Advance Security Cooperation 08-1 Execution Course in APCSS (Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies) in Hawai, USA.

He is a graduate both from Defense Service Command and Staff College and National Defense College at Mirpur Cantt. He has number of publications in his credit- notable one is “Carbon Mitigation: clean coal through carbon capture & storage under clean development mechanism for energy and climate security in Bangladesh”. His book on Border Security- “National, Regional and International Cooperation on Border Management“ was Published by international publisher Lambert Publishing Academy. Among many important construction projects under his leadership as E in C of Bangladesh Army, one of his notable project is the Construction of Radisson Hotel in Chittagong.

Lieutenant General Abul Hossain, BSP, BGBM, ndc, psc, P Eng served in different Engineer Battalions including commanding 17 Engineer Construction Battalion and EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Battalion in Kuwait (OKP-11). He served as Officer Commanding of 33 Field Company Engineers and
Project Officer of Road Construction Project at Chimbuk-Thanchi road in Chittagong Hill Tracts. He was
Brigade Major of an Independent Engineer Brigade and Grade 2 Staff officer of Engineer in Chief Branch
at Army Headquarters. He was also Sector Commander of BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh). He was chief instructor in Engineer Centre & School of Military Engineering. He was the Director of Special Works Organization (SWO) and Director Works and chief engineer (DW&CE) of Army in Army Headquarters.
He has done his UN mission as commanding officer of EOD Battalion in Kuwait (OKP-11) during the year 2000-02. He was Chief Engineer of Dhaka City Corporation and Commandant of Bangladesh Ordnance Factory. He was also the Commandant of Military Institute of Science & Technology (MIST), Engineer in Chief at Army Headquarters. He was Military Secretary to the Honorable President of Bangladesh from Jan 2014 to Nov 2016. He was Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh from 2016 and Retired as GOC ARTDOC of Bangladesh Army. He enjoys reading books and playing golf. He is happily married and proud father of two daughters.
